Sunsetting the Impact Alliance — Reflections and Lessons Learned From An Impact Community

It’s with a bittersweet heart that I announce that as of today, we’re closing the doors of the Impact Alliance. It’s been an educational, delightful, inspiring, and humbling experience. In this post, I’ll discuss the (still relevant) insights that led to it’s creation, the reasons it didn’t reach it’s full potential, and how it could be revived down the road.

The Inspiration

It all started with emote.design, my first real company that was founded on a mission to support entrepreneurs who wanted to make a positive impact on the world through their projects. I met so many inspiring people through this venture, like Katie McClure, Ana Heloisa Moreno, Alain Amouyal, Kimberly Burley, and so many others.

I saw the beautiful potential in who they were and what could be created if they came together around a shared purpose, project, or movement. I realized that many online communities in the “impact entrepreneur” space existed, but were closed, not active, or lacking depth in their experience. This is when the seed for the Impact Alliance was planted.
